To fulfill environmental stewardship commitments within Alberta Plywood’s ┬áDetailed Forest Management Plan (DFMP),
Woodlands North conducted a 10 year-long wildlife inventory program.
The survey program was designed to detect avian and fur-bearing species presence and to create an index of relative abundance across the FMA to assist land management decisions.

Field inventories (spring songbird point counts, winter tracking) were conducted on permanently established study site transects.
Census efforts detected several species on Alberta Plywood’s FMA that were also of concern by Alberta’s Endangered Species Conservation Committee. This included the wolverine, black-throated green warbler and Cape May warbler.
A multitude of secure species were also inventoried that are of great ecological importance.
